Use of the site
GIS Map is provided free of charge for personal, educational and commercial reference use. You agree not to misuse the site, including by attempting to disrupt it, overload it with automated requests, or scrape it in a way that degrades service for others.
Informational use only
Maps, boundaries, flood zones, elevation, soils, demographics, federal property listings and other data on this site are compiled from public sources and are provided for general information only. They are not a survey, legal boundary determination, official flood determination, appraisal or professional advice. Boundaries may be approximate (for example, Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas approximate USPS ZIP codes). Always confirm important decisions with the responsible official agency or a licensed professional.
Data sources and attribution
Data comes from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau, FEMA, the U.S. Geological Survey, USDA NRCS, the U.S. General Services Administration, MRLC, GeoNames, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, and Esri ArcGIS. Each source retains its own terms and licenses. Photos and article summaries remain subject to their original licenses and attributions as shown on the page. Basemaps are provided by Esri and are subject to Esri's terms of use.
Embedded maps
You may embed city maps on your own website using the embed code we provide, as long as the map and its link back to GIS Map are not altered to hide their source. We may change or discontinue embeds at any time.
Third-party content and links
News headlines and other links lead to third-party websites that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.
No warranty and limitation of liability
The site and all data are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, GIS Map is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the site or its data.
Changes
We may update these terms or change the site at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
